T
he i's have been dotted
and the t's have been
crossed, and after all
that planning it's finally the
day of your charity golf tour-
nament. While the advance
preparation is crucial, there are
3 key things you can do on the
day of your event to help en-
sure it goes off without a hitch.
1
Manage the volunteers.
Make sure you have
enough volunteers, and
assign someone to man-
age and direct them.
"There's nothing
worse than seeing vol-
unteers stand around be-
cause they don't know what
they're supposed to do," said
Diane Plichta, Classic Club's
Charitable Sales & Marketing
Manager. "Assign each volun-
teer a specific job, and they'll
be invaluable to the success of
the event."
2
Show up early. Even for the
most organized leader,
there's always last-minute
things to arrange, says Plichta.
"I recommend showing up at
least two hours before regis-
tration is scheduled to start,"
she said. "That will give you
enough time to organize regis-
tration, meet with the tourna-
ment coordinator, and double-
check player lists and various
signage.
3
Run through the day.
Going through each step of
the day mentally, even the
night before or the morning of,
will help you remember little
things and be fully prepared
for the day, says Plichta.
Take the time to think
through registration, organize
and prepare payment meth-
ods, make sure you know the
club's Wi-Fi passwords, organ-
ize and print off extra copies of
player lists, have extra copies
of signage, gather pens and
duct tape, and look through
the goodie bags to ensure
they're ready.
"After all," said Plichta, "you
don't want to throw away the
months of planning by not
being ready the day of."
