here's always something
new in the golf shop at
San Vicente. Since the
floor-to-ceiling renovation was
completed in November, dis-
plays are changing and new
merchandise is freshening up
the modernized space.
"Our merchandising manager
Corri Harvey has an eye for
choosing unique items and dares
to be different," says Head PGA
Golf Professional John Rathbun.
"And everybody loves it."
The shop hadn't been touched
in nearly two decades, Rathbun
said, so when it came time to
update things, the staff at San
Vicente consulted designers be-
hind some of the top-ranked
golf shops in the country.
Updated LED lighting re-
placed the old florescent lights,
while the oversized counter that
once took up much of the room
has been removed. Paint is
fresh, as is the flooring and
crown molding.
But it's the new merchandise
that's getting rave reviews. New
lines include wild Loudmouth
Golf apparel, a John Daly fa-
vorite, and the colorful Sassy
Caddy ladies golf bags.
"They're not your basic bag,"
Rathbun says. "Some come with
a purse; they have feminine col-
ors, some in paisleys and dots.
It's fun. It's different."
The shop also carries acces-
sories from Navika, unique jew-
elry such a shoe ornaments or
necklaces that double as ball
markers or stroke counters.
The standards are still there
— from balls and clubs to all the
basics like towels and divot re-
pair tools. Apparel favorites like
Antigua and Page & Tuttle also
line the racks, all with price tags
comparable with the bigger dis-
count golf stores.
