next On the tee > THE WARBURTON sAturdAy-sundAy, MArch 2-3 W hile the days of Hollywood royalty cavorting across the Coachella Valley in golf tournaments hosted by such luminaries as Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra are now but fond memories, the patrick warburton celebrity golf tournament at Classic Club is forging its own history. The ninth annual affair, which includes golf and so much more, is set to take place February 28-March 3. Hosted by actor Patrick Warburton, best known for playing Puddy on "Seinfeld," the event includes a two- day golf tournament, with a film or TV actor, or professional athlete or musi- cian, joining each foursome. But it's just as anticipated for its nightly events, in- cluding Songwriter Night Thursday, which features some of Nashville's top songwriters performing and sharing the stories behind their songs, a jam session with rock 'n' roll icons on Friday, and a Saturday night red-carpet soiree. Last year, the tournament raised just over $2.5 million for the St. Jude Chil- dren's Research Hospital. While the names of the celebrities and musicians who will play golf and perform won't be released until Febru- ary, last year such recognizable names as Alice Cooper, Dennis Haysbert and Stephen Stills all participated. The golf portion of the event will fea- ture a Friday evening celebrity pairings party for the weekend tournament.
