or many San Francisco Bay Area
golfers, walking to the first tee
at the new Baylands Golf Links
will make them feel like they've
been transported to an alternate uni-
verse. That's because the reconstructed
golf course – opened on Memorial Day
weekend after a nearly two-year
process – looks and feels almost nothing
like the old Palo Alto Municipal Golf
Course that once stood on the same
land.
The location remains the same – in the
region of the country that's home to
Stanford University, Facebook, Google
