he Winemakers
Studio's status
has reached new
heights with its recent
award from one of the
country's oldest and
most respected
publications. The
Winemakers Stu-
dio was named
"Best Winery Tasting
Room" by Sunset Mag-
azine this summer as
part of its annual Sun-
set Travel Awards.
In explaining its
pick, the staff at Sunset
Magazine said, "Who
better to bring us the
next best thing in tast-
ing rooms than the
winery that, 101 years
ago, brought us cut-
tings of what's now the
most-planted Chardon-
nay clone in California
(the Wente clone) and,
in 1986, helped invent
'wine-country cooking'
with a cutting-edge
winery restaurant?
Now Wente Vineyards
has created an ideal
venue for decanting
their wine wisdom to
the rest of us."
It shouldn't come as
too much of a surprise
that The Winemakers
Studio received the
honor. After all, The
Studio offers the first
experience of its kind
in giving guests an in-
teractive, behind-the-
scenes look at grape
growing, wine blend-
ing, and wine and food
pairing. At The Wine-
makers Studio, guests
learn about the wine-
making process, but
also have the chance to
blend their own bottle,
regardless of their pre-
vious wine knowledge.

whether novice or
