YOUR GAME BOOK A TEE TIME ON THE RANGE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Practice with a purpose When you hit the practice range, always have a purpose in mind. Don't just beat balls for a of couple hours into the open range. Have a specific target you want to hit to- ward, and continue picking out targets you want to at- tack throughout your session. STAYING IN SHAPE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Get into a stretching routine The golf swing can be hard on your back and other parts of your body, so it's impor- tant to take at least 15 to 20 minutes to stretch every day, whether you're playing golf, going to the range or just sit- ting at your desk. BETWEEN THE EARS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Explore the mental side of the game The mechanics of the golf swing are important. How- ever, many golfers overlook the mental side of golf. There are a lot of good books that cover this aspect of the game, and could improve your mindset when playing. Score with your wedges Not every shot is going to be perfect, and you'll often find yourself in situations where you miss the green. Improve your short game so that when you find yourself in one of these situations, you'll be confident with your wedge and can give yourself a shot to get up and down. Smith said when his swing feels off, he always thinks about GASP (grip, alignment, stance, pos- ture), which reminds him that these are the key points to a good golf swing and that they need be correct before executing the swing.
