I t's not the longest course in the Pacific Northwest, but what Charbonneau Golf Club lacks in length it more than makes up for in challenge, enjoy- ment and beauty. The 27-hole facility located just south of Portland, Oregon, features three nines – the longest of which tips out at 2,148 yards – and each includes four par-4s and five par-3s. But it packs a powerful punch in its deceptively diminutive frame. "This is a fun, short but very chal- lenging golf course that players can get around 18 holes in just over three hours," said General Manager Chris Bensel. "It is wonderful for families and new golfers. And, for top-level players, the par 3s are so challenging that few score as well as they believe they would based on the layout's yardage alone." Originally designed and built in 1975 by Ted Robinson Sr., the course is more than difficult par-3s. Each of the three nines – called Red, Yellow and Green – features its own distinc- tive character and no two holes on the property are alike.
