At Clearview Park, Dyker Beach and
Pelham Bay/Split Rock, The Players
Club members get all of the program's
benefits for just $29.99 per month.
Member rates on weekdays are $34 until
noon, $24 from noon-1 p.m. and $19
thereafter. On weekends, there are
limited morning tee times available for
$39, and after 1 p.m. it's just
$19 to play 18 holes.
There are also senior rates
available for $26 every day
before noon.
In addition to the
discounted greens fees,
members also enjoy a complimentary
beer, water or soft drink with each round
they play.
New York is one of the last areas of the
country to roll out The Players Club
membership, and with a huge
population of passionate golfers, Ginther
and his colleagues were confident that it
would be well received. In just two
months, the three New York facilities that
just began offering The Players Club
have registered approximately 1,500
members between them. Those new
enrollees join a nationwide network of
nearly 50,000 golfers.
"We're trying to change the way
people look at how they pay to play
public courses," Ginther said. "It's more
of a subscription-based model, similar to
a gym membership, that gives you
deeply discounted rates for tee times."
The quintet of public tracks are all
classic early to mid-century layouts that
have been popular with locals for
decades. With one course offering The
Players Club membership in each of
New York's five boroughs, there's a
"home course" for everyone.
