YOUR GAME I f you were to play a word- association game with average golfers and the topic was Honma Golf, many wouldn't hesitate before describing the clubs as "expensive." But that's not necessarily true, as the 60-year-old Japanese company offers a wide range of golf clubs that vary in price, but place a heavy emphasis on quality and craftsmanship in every club that leaves its factory. With three categories of clubs – Tour World, BeZeal and Beres – Honma makes golf clubs for players of all abilities, with many of their offerings similarly priced to other top-of-the-line manufacturers. Honma's most-recent products are the Beres S-06 and E-06 lines of drivers, fairways and irons. The Beres E-06 is the lightest model Honma has made and can be a game-changer for golfers with moderate swing speeds. Each club that the company produces is crafted with the best in materials. "Our customers are aspirational, and they know exactly what they are looking for in their lifestyle as well as in their golf equipment," said Eddie Seefeldt, the company's Western Regional Manager. "Honma Golf believes in giving golfers what they want and the performance they need based on their personality and skill level. "If you look at most brands outside of the golf industry, they allow the consumer to aspire within their brand, and Honma is unique in this way within the golf industry. Honma is about choices, and we have one of the widest ranges of golf equipment in the business." Many American Golf-managed courses hold Honma Golf demo days on their summer schedules. The next one is June 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course in Irvine, California, and golfers can call the golf shop at their home American Golf course to inquire about others. Many of the company's facilities also serve as authorized dealers for Honma Golf, allowing customers to order directly through their home course. Seefeldt said the demand for his company's clubs has increased in recent years, with golfers willing to spend a little more than average for clubs that they can trust are superior. "There has been a surge in the ultra-premium products of late, and consumers are wanting something that looks and feels different than what their playing partner uses," he explained. "They are looking for and want the latest in technology and performance – and that's where Honma comes in, with world-class craftsmanship and performance." HOT SHOTS!
