THE 19TH HOLE SoCal GOLF INSIDER so, you should make plans to play all of these courses once, especially if you are on the back nine of life. And, come to think of it, Half Moon Bay Links – another one of my favorites – is only 100 miles up the coast, so you might as well make another stop to play both the Old Course and the Ocean Course. You won't regret it. >> destination Kohler: Who would have thought that a golf resort in the Land of Cheese – my nickname for the state of Wisconsin – would be acclaimed for its golf, lodging and dining? But one visit, and you will know why, as I learned a month before the 2015 PGA Championship was contested on the Straits Course at Whistling Straits. The Straits is a Pete Dye- designed seaside links course on the shores of Lake Michigan, featuring two miles of uninterrupted shoreline and spec- tacular deep-blue lake views on all 18 holes. Though it has only been open to the public since 1998, it already has hosted the 2004, 2010 and 2015 PGA Championships, as well as the 2007 U.S. Senior Open. And in two years, the 2020 Ryder Cup is com- ing. All four resort courses are in Golf Di- gest's top 100: The Straits, No. 4; Blackwolf Run's River Course, No. 15; Whistling Straits' Irish Course, No. 45; and Blackwolf Run's Meadow Valleys, No. 60. In addi- tion, the vintage American Club hotel earned Forbes Five-Star and AAA 5-dia- mond ratings. You'll also love the deep- fried cheddar-cheese curds. Trust me. >> British columBia: I have teed it up all over Canada, but British Columbia is my favorite province as a golf travel desti- continued from previous screen Watch the video above on Olympic View Golf Club in British Columbia. continued on the next screen >> >
