n GAMBLE SANDS NAMED TOP PUBLIC COURSE IN WASHINGTON

amble Sands has been showered
with awards since opening three
years ago, and recently received
another coveted honor: It was named
Washington's No. 1 public course by
Cascade Golfer Magazine, unseating
Chambers Bay from a title it held for
four years.
Designer David McLay Kidd credited
the canvas on which he was able to work.
"Gamble Sands sits within a stunning
environment and on top of hundreds of
feet of sand, the perfect ingredients for
a golf course architect to create a world-
class golf course," Kidd said. "Best in
state might only be the beginning."
The voting came from a panel of 30
industry experts in the Northwest as
well as from readers of the magazine,
men and women ranging in age from
25 to 71.
"We tried extremely hard to make
sure the skilled aggressive golfer could
see the opportunity to score without
fear of disaster, and we worked just as
hard to make sure everyone else could
feel like a skilled golfer," Kidd said.
