TRUE COLORS
n CHARACTER SHINES FOLLOWING STORMS
T
he game of golf has a unique way of shining a
light on our integrity, fortitude and resolve.
These are the traits we cherish in our chosen
field and they were on full display recently in
the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and
Irma that battered Texas and Florida.
And while it goes without saying
that damage to our courses pales sig-
nificantly in comparison to loss of life
or losing one's home and cherished
possessions, we were very proud of the
efforts put forth at High Meadow Ranch
near Houston and Hunter's Creek in Or-
lando – both of which experienced serious impact
from the tropical storms. Each property had its work
cut out to varying degrees and both rose to the chal-
lenge when it came to doing what was necessary to
ensure safety and a swift rebound from the calamity.
You can read their story in this edition of OB Sports
Golf & Leisure and learn how each responded in the
wake of these natural disasters.
As Charles Blair Macdonald, one of the founding fa-
thers of American golf, put it in 1898: "No game brings
out more unerringly the true character of a man."
Truer words have never been spoken.
