OB SPORTS GOLF & LEISURE x SPRING 2017 x obsports.com l WHAT'S NEW W hile he is still one of the most formidable and fan-favorite golfers on the PGA Tour, Phil Mickelson is also actively involved in the game in ways other than playing – partic- ularly in the state where he honed his game in college. The 46-year-old five-time major champion has signed an agreement with his alma mater, Arizona State University, to design a short-game practice facility in Phoenix that he believes will be the finest ever built. "This short-game facility is going to be the single greatest short-game facility in the country," said Mickel- son, who graduated from ASU in 1995 and was a three-time NCAA individual champion. "It's not going to be the biggest, it's not going to be the most aesthetically beautiful. It's going be the most functional. It's where these young college players will be able to de- velop their game and harness their short game, and develop a world- class short game." The facility will be part of OB Sports-managed Papago Golf Course, which ASU recently agreed to use as its home course for the men's and women's golf teams. It will include a full-length driving range and five-acre short- game area, as well as 6,750 square feet of air conditioned building space that will serve as home to both teams, along with 2,400 square feet of exterior covered space. Construction on the short-game facility, which is being built by Phil Mickelson Design, is scheduled to begin this year. It will augment a portfolio that includes a short-game facility in La Jolla, two courses in China and the Mickelson National Golf Club, currently being built in Calgary, Canada. ............................................................... > VISIT Papago Golf Course. SHORT-GAME MAGIC n PHIL MICKELSON TO BEGIN WORK ON WORLD-CLASS FACILITY NEW FITNESS CENTER SET TO OPEN AT TETHEROW M embers and visitors to Tetherow will soon have the chance to pump up their game at the Bend, Oregon, resort. The property is set to open its new fitness center on May 27, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. And like everything at Tetherow, it will be done exceptionally well. "This is not your standard resort gym," said Dominic Gatto, the Fitness Manager at Tetherow. "We will have top-of-the- line fitness instructors and classes to provide a unique experience for our members and guests." The 14,000-square-foot building will include three rooms of fitness space, locker rooms, steam rooms and saunas, an outdoor pool and hot tub, and an indoor café. The facility will have one room fully stocked with free weights, weight machines and cardio machines. Another room will be set up as a small group fitness and personal training area, with functional equipment and space for training and classes. The third room will encompass a mind and body studio for yoga, barre, Pilates and more. A full array of group fitness classes will be offered as well as personal training. The new amenity should no doubt please workout warriors, who know fitness takes no days off. SHAPING UP! VISIT TETHEROW FOR MORE DETAILS
