PASSION PLAY
n U.S. OPEN BRINGS OUT BEST ON FATHER'S DAY
O
f all the articles I think you'll enjoy in this
edition
of OB Sports Golf & Leisure, the one
that stands out most for me revolves around
two topics intrinsically connected with the
game: the U.S. Open and Father's Day.
Authored by veteran golf writer Joe
Passov, the piece examines the color-
ful history of our national champi-
onship – brimming with all its drama,
triumph, heartbreak and joy – while
juxtaposing the special bond golfing
dads share with their kids as the event
comes to its annual Father's Day conclusion.
Another article you may find enlightening focuses
on the USGA's proposed rule changes in conjunction
with the R&A that would significantly impact the way
we play the game. I'll let you decide for yourself after
reading Randy Youngman's column in this issue, but I
think it's a positive step in terms of attracting and re-
taining players as we look to the future of the sport.
Finally, if you're making travel plans for spring and
summer, check out our features on golf in the Pacific
Northwest and the Bahamas – where stellar layouts
and top-notch accommodations are par for the course.
