V
ince Domenzain of Centen-
nial Golf Club in Medford,
Oregon, was recently hon-
ored as the 2015 General Manager of
the Year by the American Junior Golf
Association. The award recognizes
the GM who displays unwavering
support of the AJGA and junior golf
by creating a memorable tournament
experience for players, families, staff,
and volunteers.
Centennial Golf Club has hosted
the AJGA since 2010, with the organ-
ization slated to return July 25-28.
We thought it would be a good
time to catch up with Domenzain to
learn more about his enthusiasm for
the game and those who play it.
How long have you been involved
in golf and how did you get started?
I've been active with the PGA for
over 30 years. Like many golfers, I
was introduced to the game by my
dad by being his caddy at the age of
9. It didn't take me or my dad long to
realize that I wanted to play the
game instead of just being a caddy.
Did you play junior golf? I was for-
tunate to grow up in Phoenix, Ari-
zona, which had a strong junior golf
program. I started playing in tourna-
ments my first summer of golf. I still
remember how excited I was to win
my first junior trophy that same sum-
mer. I continued to play junior golf at
a high level and even participated
twice in Junior World at Torrey Pines.
