When did you embark on golf as a
career? It seems like growing up I was
always at the golf course either play-
ing, practicing, or working. I worked at
several golf facilities starting in the bag
room, picking the range, and as a
locker room attendant and assistant
pro to name a few. I have al-
ways loved the environment
of the golf course and all
facets of the game. I worked
my way through the PGA as
an assistant, head professional,
director of golf, and general manager.
How long have you been at Centen-
nial Golf Club? OB Sports hired me just
over 10 years ago. I arrived here about
six months before the golf course
opened and I have been lucky to see it
grow into such a great facility.
What does the AJGA GM of the Year
Award mean to you? It's a great honor
to be recognized by the AJGA for this
award. I always hold junior golf as a
very important part of the growth and
advancement of the game and to be
recognized for those efforts makes it
even more satisfying.
Why is it important to you to sup-
port junior golf? Junior golf was so
important to me growing up, as I
learned how to compete, along with
proper etiquette, sportsmanship, dedi-
cation, care for the course, and cama-
raderie with your peers. With all of the
distractions the younger generation
has these days they still have the op-
portunity to experience some impor-
tant qualities with their involvement in
the game of golf.
What do you love most about the
game? My love and passion for the
game is something that I will have for-
ever. Golf has given me so much, from
lasting relationships to a great career –
and it's a game I can enjoy forever, just
to name a few reasons.
Any words of wisdom? I think it's
important to keep the game simple to
enjoy what golf has to offer. Something
I tell my students is that the game of
golf is just a kid, a ball, and a stick.
