S
andia Golf Club
has done it again.
For only the sec-
ond time in the nine-
year history of the
OB Sports National
Team Champi-
onship, Sandia has
won the title twice.
The club from New Mex-
ico won the inaugural
event in 2007, and then
triumphed in convincing
fashion at the Randolph
Golf Complex in Tucson,
Ariz., Dec. 4-6.
The team of eight
players posted a total
score of 396, good for a
nine-shot win over ASU
Karsten Golf Course,
which shot 405. Eagle
Mountain Golf Club and
Longbow Golf Club tied
for third at 406.
"The guys played
great both days, espe-
cially Day 2," said
Sandia General Man-
ager Matt Molloy. "We
had a strict curfew of
3 a.m., so the guys got
plenty of sleep for
both days of the com-
petition. But honestly,
we started qualifying as
two-man teams a few
years ago and I think
that makes them more
prepared to play in a
tournament because
they're comfortable with
each other."
In addition to Molloy,
the team consisted of
Tony Kozlowski, Todd
Reeves, Randy Robinson,
Jose Moreno, Bernie
Salazar, Kevin Lente, and
Bob Engleby.
"The guys get
pumped for this event
each year, so it is a lot of
fun being a part of it.
Once the Cup is deliv-
ered to the golf shop, we
are planning a little cele-
bration," Molloy said. "It
was a great event
through and through
– the team at OB
Sports and Randolph
Golf Complex put on
a terrific tournament."
Past winners of the
tournament include
High Meadow Ranch
(2014 and 2009), Centen-
nial (2013), Monarch
Beach (2012), Palm Val-
ley (2011), and Tijeras
Creek (2008).
