DESTINATIONS
I
s there a more magical time in golf
than December in the Arizona
desert? The weather is ideal, the
fairways are lush and green, and
golf season is kicking into high gear.
It's the perfect time of year for
golfers to flock to Tucson, Ariz.
While Phoenix and Scottsdale may
hog most of the golf headlines in the
state, there is a rich diversity of courses
in Tucson, including the Randolph Golf
Complex, host site of the OB Sports Na-
tional Team Championship Dec. 4-6.
"We are really excited to host golfers
from throughout the nation for this
event," said Brent DeRaad, President-
CEO of Visit Tucson. "There is an out-
standing array of courses in metro
Tucson and they are in prime condition
in December."
Among the most popular by locals
and visitors alike are The Golf Club at
Vistoso (naturally routed, scenic, and
rich with shot-making potential), Ari-
zona National Golf Club (demanding
accuracy yet willing to forgive), and El
Rio Golf Course (original site of the
PGA Tour's Tucson Open, with tight
fairways, small greens, and lots of trees).
Other tracks worth a visit include
Fred Enke and Silverbell golf courses,
as well as Randolph North and Dell
Urich courses at the aforementioned
Randolph Golf Complex.
