DESTINATIONS
CENTENNIAL GOLF CLUB
Centennial Golf Club in Medford is
the only course in southern Oregon that
features bent grass putting surfaces, so if
you're looking for a little faster pace on
the greens, this is the place to visit.
Stretching just over 7,300 yards from
the back tees and designed by two-time
PGA Tour winner and 1977 U.S. Ama-
teur champion John Fought, Centennial
is known for its stunning location in the
Rogue Valley region and its four water
hazards that strategically come
into play on eight holes.
Standouts include the
par-4 third, which at 452
yards from the tips, has a
reputation as being among
the most challenging in the val-
ley, and the brutish par-4 18th that
stretches to 494 yards and is known for
the beautiful views and clubhouse that
serve as a backdrop.
LANGDON FARMS GOLF CLUB
Located just 15 miles south of Portland
in nearby Aurora, Langdon Farms is a
public, links-style course with breathtak-
ing views of Mt. Hood and drier playing
conditions – a nice respite in the rainy
Northwest. Langdon Farms is a fun,
playable course where the conditions are
consistently excellent and the staff has
been known to go above and beyond to
make golfers feel welcome.
Designed by Fought and Bob Cupp,
the award-winning layout provides
plenty of mounding and bunkering, and
has received rave reviews from players
who travel across the nation to play it.
By the end of the round, you're likely
not going to forget the par-4 eighth hole,
a 464-yard picture of beauty that features
the original barn built on the property in
1908. The barn is in play, and golfers
drive their carts through it as they ap-
proach to the green.
TETHEROW GOLF CLUB
As the only Scottish links-style cham-
pionship course in central Oregon,
Bend's Tetherow is a destination hotspot.
Stretching nearly 7,300 yards from the
tips, course architect David McLay Kidd
made sure to take full advantage of the
panoramic views of the Cascade peaks
when he designed the course.
The penultimate 17th is Tetherow's
signature hole, as a par-3 built into an
old pumice quarry. It's a challenging
hole that serves as the cherry on top of a
beautiful and demanding layout set
amidst a stunning landscape. Also be
sure to soak in the fourth hole, a hidden
gem for spectacular panoramic views.
There's perhaps no better way to soak in the region's
scenery at its finest than by playing at one of the
world-renowned golf courses in the state.
