I
f you have a junior golfer who's
itching to improve their game this
summer, then the PGA Junior
Tour Academy at Chardonnay Golf
Club is an ideal opportunity.
The weeklong camps run June
through August and include instruc-
tion from a PGA professional, daily
drills to improve skills and nine holes
of golf each day accompanied by an
Academy instructor.
"If kids are excited about golf, this
is a great way to learn the game from
the very beginning," said Bob Becker,
Head Golf Professional at Chardon-
nay. "It will teach them everything."
Camps are offered in half-day and
full-day sessions depending on age.
Boys and girls ages 7 through 13 of
all skills levels participate in the half-
day session, which runs from 9 a.m.
to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Boys and girls ages 9 through 16
participate in the full-day session,
which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday and includes
lunch.
"The PGA Tour Academy is always
trying to make the game fun and in-
teresting for kids," said Becker. "This
is not your typical sports camp."
Kids can expect to learn the funda-
mentals of the swing, as well as how
to play the game on the golf course,
which makes these camps ideal for
those who really have an interest in
growing and gaining knowledge that
will last a lifetime.
If you plan on signing up your kids
for these fun summer camps, there's
one thing you can do as a parent to
help your child prepare, according to
Becker:
"Look for golf clubs that fit your
child!" he said. "That will improve
their chances for success greatly."
