"We're maybe 50 yards from the clubhouse
and just south of the first tee, so it's ideal for
golf tournaments," Molloy said. "The
side that
faces the Sandia Mountains is all glass and
opens onto a huge indoor-outdoor covered
patio that is fully conditioned and will seat
up to 100 people. It's an ideal place for events
of all kinds."
Built in 2005 and designed by Scott Miller, the
golf course was developed as an amenity to San-
dia Resort & Casino.
Set against the backdrop of the Sandia Moun-
tain Range, the course stretches to nearly 7,800
yards, although the Resort tees play to a more
manageable 6,400 yards. The course is
routed through the rigid high desert
landscape with panoramic views of
the Sandia Mountains and the
greater Albuquerque region.
"It was built at a time when golf
courses were getting harder and harder
and more unplayable," Molloy said. "Sandia is a
total departure from that. People come out here
and they have fun."
Other projects currently in the works at San-
dia Resort & Casino include construction of a
four-story parking garage with a climate-con-
trolled bridge, and the new Roadrunner Casino
with increased seating.
