T
o be a successful golfer, you
need a diverse game. One
that is creative and disci-
plined, strong and accurate
off the tee, solid with irons, good
around and on the green. You could
say that Steve Loy has applied that
same concept to his career, one that has
seen him achieve enormous success in
his 40 years in the golf industry.
He was a four-time National Golf
Coach of the Year at Arizona State
University and is a member of the Na-
tional Golf Coaches Hall of fame. He's
an agent for PGA Tour stars like Luke
Donald and is Phil Mickelson's long-
time manager and business partner.
OB Sports oversees four of the courses
Loy and Mickelson own together.
The throughline, obviously, is golf, a
game that Loy has played most of his
life and one that he continues to im-
merse himself in, both in personal and
professional relationships. Gaylord
Sports Management, a company he
helped found, merged with Lagardére
Unlimited in 2011, creating one of the
biggest players in the sports manage-
ment world, with top-tier clients in
baseball and golf, including Keegan
Bradley, Angel Cabrera, Lucas Glover
and Nick Watney, among many others.
That success in the corporate world is
one forged through the close relation-
ships he's cultivated during his life.
Such as his connection with Mickelson.
