STORE NEWS T he Golfdom brand is about to get quite a bit bigger in the Washington, D.C., area. The company, part of the Worldwide Golf Shops family of stores, is set to open a brand new store in Rockville, Maryland, and to rebrand the Duke's Golf store in Annapolis, Maryland, to a Golfdom. Worldwide Golf Shops had acquired the Golfdom location in Tysons, Virginia, in May 2022 and will now own and oper- ate three stores in one of the most golf- rich areas of the country while keeping alive the spirit of the family-founded stores, according to Buddy Christensen, President of Golfdom. WGS completed a renovation of the 4,500-square-foot Annapolis store, and it now includes new signage revealing the re-brand to Golfdom. The new Rockville store is expected to open in April, offering golfers 12,000 square feet of retail space. It will be mod- eled after the Virginia location, with a pri- mary focus on club fitting and a vast se- lection of the top options in soft goods. Each of the three stores will offer every- thing that makes Worldwide Golf Shops locations across the country so appealing to golfers of all skill levels — expert serv- ice, club fitting, club repair and an out- standing selection of clubs, apparel, shoes, accessories and more. Even better, they will offer Worldwide Golf Shops' industry-first 90-day satisfac- tion guarantee and will feature a family atmosphere that makes the stores stand out. The Rockville location will be run by Randy Ramsey, and Robert Johns will manage the Annapolis location. Both have been with their respective stores for at least five years and have worked in golf retail for more than three decades. "Rockville is only about 20 minutes from Tysons but it sits on the other side of the Potomac River, so typically the two customer bases stay on their side of the river," Christensen explained. "Annapolis is about 30-45 minutes from the other two stores, so really in a different market. It draws from areas all around on the ocean and bay side of Maryland, reaching as far as Baltimore. We're really excited to be in both of these markets!"
