passion for golf, but the game
helped him survive one of the
most trying times of his life.
Fine is the founder of the YouTube
Channel "Not A Scratch Golfer," which
features videos with titles such as
"What It's Actually Like To play Pebble
Beach," "Can I Actually Beat Scratch
Golfers?," and "The TWO KEYS To
Playing Single-Digit Handicap Golf,"
which was filmed at the Pete Dye
Mountain Course.
Fine's story of overcoming a serious health
illness and the videos documenting his
escapades on the course have resonated
with golfers. His channel boasts more than
37,000 subscribers.
Here, Fine talks about the impact golf has
had on his life, his first visit to PGA WEST
last winter, and his YouTube channel,
which he launched in March 2021:
How did you get into golf and what do
you love about the game? Until my late-
20s, the only golf I knew was pitch and
putt. "Real" golf didn't interest me.
Playing I8 holes seemed daunting, not to
mention tedious, time-consuming, and
maddeningly difficult. While living in
California, something changed. On a
whim, I took myself to the golf course and
caught the bug instantaneously. I loved
feeling the turf beneath my feet, the sights
and sounds at the course, and tackling a
seemingly unsolvable game.
