I
n honor of the 2022 Masters last
April, the Worldwide Golf Shops In-
sider podcast spent time with World
Golf Hall of Famer Fred Couples.
The tournament marked the 30-year
anniversary of his victory at Augusta in
1992, and Couples shared some of his
thoughts on the show about that historic
week.
"Fred has always been one of my all-
time favorites," said Tom Brassell, host
and Producer of Digital Content for
Worldwide Golf Shops. "We played col-
lege golf around the same time, and al-
though our schools never competed
against each other, he was a legend at
Houston and I started following him in
the early 1980s. Freddie has always
exemplified 'cool' and making golf look
easy, but don't take that demeanor lightly.
He's one heck of a competitor."
On the show, Couples also reminisces
about his time at the University of Hous-
ton and his friendship with former pod-
cast guest and CBS host Jim Nantz. He
also talks about his long relationship with
Bridgestone Golf and gives his thoughts
on golf ball fitting and how everyday
golfers can benefit from being fit for the
right golf ball for them.
"Fred really has some incredible in-
sights on golf ball fitting, and goes into
detail on his first-ever ball fitting he went
through years ago with Bridgestone,"
Brassell said. "It was quite funny and he
brought up something I'd never heard of.
That being if you don't have the time to
go and do an onsite fitting, he suggested
to grab a few sleeves of golf balls that
you're considering and do it yourself.
That is so obvious, but probably some-
thing that nobody ever thought of, other
than Freddie."
Other recent podcasts have featured
guests such as PGA Tour player Kevin
Kisner, the LPGA Tour's Brooke Hender-
son, and Senior Manager for Product
Creation at TaylorMade, Matt Bovee.
