F
or years, Classic Club's
Resident Card program
has been extremely popu-
lar thanks to all the bene-
fits it offers. For the first time this
year, cardholders will have even
more incentive to join as their par-
ticipation entitles them entry into
the club's Inaugural Residents
Championship.
The tournament is scheduled for
December 17 with an 11 a.m. shot-
gun start and is open to golfers
with a valid 2020 Resident Card is-
sued before December 1. The 18-
hole tournament will feature a
two-person, stroke-play better-ball
format, with gross and net awards
and an optional Skins Game. The
$240 per-team registration fee in-
cludes prizes and on-course food
and beverage.
"We decided to put on the Resi-
dents Championship for the first
time this year to give our loyal
cardholders an event of their own,
and to provide a sense of commu-
nity," said Joe Fritz, the PGA Tour-
nament Coordinator at Classic
Club, adding that he expects be-
tween 80-120 players for the inau-
gural event. "We're looking at the
event as a way to reward and rec-
ognize our current cardholders."
Resident cards cost $40 per year
and are available to all Coachella
Valley residents who can furnish a
California drivers' license or prop-
erty tax bill, along with a current
utility bill for a home in the Valley.
Several hundred cards are is-
sued each year to golfers looking
to take advantage of one of the
best golf deals found anywhere in
the Coachella Valley.
Fritz said the biggest benefit of
becoming a resident cardholder is
the deep discounts offered on
green fees. The program is de-
signed to allow neighborhood
golfers the opportunity to play a
PGA Tour-caliber venue that
hosted the Bob Hope Chrysler
Classic from 2006-2008 for an in-
credibly affordable price.
"The cardholder rate of $80 in
season for each round is a no
brainer at a one-time fee of $40,"
Fritz said.
