PLACES TO PLAY
The outings are available to all golfers and are
advertised to email databases of those who have
played American Golf courses, but are particularly
attractive for The Players Club members because
they save an average of $20-30 on greens fees com-
pared to non-members.
"Play Like a Member Days are really a great
perk for our members of The Players Club," said
Al Weinhold, a Regional Vice President of Revenue
Management for American Golf Corporation.
"They get access to some of these great courses,
and the rates are very reasonable."
Weinhold said that in many cases, the outings
sell out, attracting as many as 200 players – and
more events are currently being planned for 2020.
So far, Play Like a Member Days have been offered
only in Southern California because the region is
home to a large percentage of American Golf's pri-
vate clubs, but the program could be expanded to
other parts of the country.
Registering for Play Like a Member Days is
easy – invitations emailed to golfers include a di-
rect phone number for the private clubs
Offering The Players Club members discounted
access to these exclusive outings has proven to be
one of the most attractive benefits of membership,
and is a bonus on top of the great rates, free range
balls and other perks they already receive at their
home courses.
"We're trying to do things like this to add value
for our members of The Players Club," Weinhold
said. "It makes them feel like a member at that
club, and it has been very successful so far."
