BETTER THAN EVER
Grand re-opening of the golf course
reveals major upgrades to playability
I
t's been a long time coming, but all the hours and effort poured
into golf course maintenance at Classic Club over the summer
and early fall are paying dividends as "the season" arrives – and
there's no better time to re-acquaint yourself with the sparkling
fairways and greens at Classic Club.
"The course is in really great shape right now," said Director of
Agronomy Tony Spannaus, adding that golfers will notice significantly
improved playing conditions with the improvements to the course's
bunkers.
Classic Club underwent a major bunker renovation in July and
August that saw some bunkers get removed, while the rest were re-
graded, received new drainage, liners, fresh white sand, and turf
around the edges.
Golfers received a preview of the course in September and early
October, and after a month-long closure for overseeding, the club had
a grand re-opening on November 15. With pristine playing conditions
on every inch of the golf course, there is plenty of reason to celebrate.
And those who find themselves in the newly renovated bunkers
will discover more consistent playing conditions out of the sand,
which was the main goal of the undertaking.
"The bunkers are just perfect," Spannaus said. "We're excited to
have this project behind us. It was quite an experience, and it was
crazy to see all the bulldozers, tractors and other equipment all over
the course. But it was all worth it – everything looks amazing."
