COMPETITION T here truly is nothing like it anywhere. And for three decades golfers from across Southern California and beyond have benefitted from the vision of those re- sponsible for launching the Long Beach Golf Festival. Now entering its 31st year, the Fes- tival features a variety of different championships played from April 24 through August 11, 2019. They are contested on three of the city's top public courses – Skylinks, El Dorado Park and Recreation Park – and pool the resources and expertise of sea- soned tournament organizers to cre- ate what are considered some of the best-run and most-beloved annual golf competitions in the country. And while much has changed since the Festival started in 1989, its core mission remains the same — to em- brace this golf-centric community and give golfers opportunities to play in some great championship events throughout the spring and summer. "Whether you're a professional seeking to bolster your resume, a young player establishing your roots or one of the hundreds of passionate amateurs who play in our events for men and women each year, there's a tournament that will test your game and get your competitive juices flow- ing," said Tim Forbes, the Festival's Executive Director. The roster of championships in- cludes the Crosby Memorial Junior, Senior Amateur, Match Play, Women's City and City Challenge, Men's City and City Challenge, and the Long Beach Open. Hundreds of players are expected to compete in each of the events, with an all-new twist in store for the men's amateur competitions. Forbes said the three decades of longevity have a lot to do with the passionate base of golfers in the area, the city's top-notch public courses, and the fact that there's an event for players of all ages and skill levels. "It's really all of the above," Forbes said. "But when we surveyed the par- ticipants of each of the multi-round events, the two most frequent positive comments were that the tournaments are played on a different course each round and that the level of organiza- tion and onsite management made it feel like a prestigious event." ................................................................... > CLICK HERE to register for an event now.
