IN THE NEWS
A
fter seven riveting episodes
and a competition that whittled
down a field of 11 individuals
and teams competing to design Wilson
Golf's newest driver, a
winner of the innovative
reality TV series "Driver
vs. Driver" was chosen
Nov. 22 – and golfers can
now swing for the fences
with the Wilson Staff Triton Driver.
Designed by Cincinnati native Eric
Sillies – who took home $500,000 as
the show's winner – the Triton hit the
racks at Worldwide Golf Shops stores
and its website the day after the show
concluded and retails for $449.99.
The Triton is billed as the world's
most adjustable multi-piece driver.
Changeable sole plates allow players
to change launch angle and spin
rates, and the driver's moveable
weights allow for 18 unique combi-
nations, meaning there's an option
for every swing and shot shape.
Hosel adjustments are fast and
easy, including three settings for
loft and the same three in a draw
configuration. A simple visual
alignment aid puts golfers in posi-
tion for consistent ball-striking
every time off the tee.
Sillies's design received plenty of
praise from the judges – Wilson Golf
President Tim Clarke, former USGA
Technical Director Frank Thomas, for-
mer Chicago Bears linebacker Brian
Urlacher and two-time PGA Tour win-
ner Kevin Streelman. But Streelman's
endorsement may have been the most
meaningful.
"I love the way this driver looks, I
love the way this driver sounds, and I
love the way this driver feels," Streel-
man said. "That's a huge part of mak-
ing it into my golf bag."
