IN THE NEWS
W
hat started with a
bang has now reached
a crescendo, and it
doesn't appear that golfers' fer-
vor for Titleist's new line of 917
metal woods will quiet down
any time soon.
First, Greg Chalmers put the
driver in play back in July and
secured his first PGA Tour vic-
tory in his 385th career event. In
August, it was Jimmy Walker
capturing his first major at the
PGA Championship with the
917 D2 driver in his bag. When
the drivers and fairway metals
were released to the public Oct.
21, the response from amateurs
was just as positive as it had
been from pros.
"We've had the same level of
excitement and quick uptake
with consumers as we did with
our PGA Tour players," said
Josh Talge, the Vice President of
Marketing for Titleist Golf
Clubs. "This was the best re-
ceived club that we've ever
made – as soon as we made it
available, we had Tour guys
putting it in play, which really
helped build momentum."
That wave of excitement led
to an opening week of sales that
outpaced all other models previ-
ously produced by Titleist.
"It was a record launch for us,
and that tells us that we have
something pretty special," Talge
said.
What makes the 917 series
revolutionary is the 16 unique
loft and lie combinations possi-
ble via its SureFit hosel and the
SureFit CG system, which al-
lows golfers to adjust the center
of gravity to favor a draw or
fade. The clubs offer greater ad-
justability than most on the
market, and can help all
golfers enjoy the game
more.
"If you're a 15
or 20 handicap,
this product is
going to make you a
ton better," Talge said. "If you're
a scratch player, I'm confident it
will make you better, too."

HOW IT
WORKS
T
he Titleist 917
SureFit hosel fea-
tures a sleeve and ring,
each with four settings
that lead to 16 unique
loft and lie angle com-
binations. By utilizing
a specialized SureFit
wrench that inserts
into the hosel screw,
you can move the ad-
justment ring so the
loft and lie settings
suit your individual
preferences. You can
also adjust the SureFit
CG Weight end cap
(pictured) to your lik-
ing. Simply use the
SureFit wrench to
remove the end
cap and adjust
the weight as
desired to suit
your ball @ight.
