The event is a two-person modified best-ball (shamble) tournament, in which each player hits a tee-shot, the team selects the best tee shot and each player plays their own ball from that point until it is holed. Event highlights also included on-course contests. Classic Club held its qualifying tournament Sunday, May 10, with great participation and a competitive field. John Kereki and Jeff Maier won the Gross Division with a score of 70, and Todd volkers and John daniels won the Net Division with a score of 62. Both pairs will com- pete in the final tournament in August, as they represent Classic Club in the largest amateur golf event that Troon hosts. clIcK hErE to read more about the Troon challenge. TROON CHALLENGE QUALIFYING TEAMS MARK YOUR CALENDAR SUMMER MAINTENANCE DATES FOR CLASSIC CLUB T he agronomy team at Classic Club takes full advantage of the summer months to conduct various maintenance duties on the course, which will help keep the track in tip-top shape the rest of the year. The work being done – from major aerification to topdressing of fairways – will main- tain and improve the turf density, root mass and playability of the course. Closing the course to complete the maintenance makes the whole process more efficient, and in the long run affects golfers less. In July and August, the course will be closed every Monday and Tuesday for various labor-intensive agronomic practices. Additionally, the golf course will close July 11-13 for summer aerification.
