ODYSSEY UNVEILS THREE EXO PUTTER STYLES
T
hey say good things come in threes and you could definitely
say that about Callaway Golf's new line of Odyssey EXO
putters. Released in mid-May, the mallet putters include the
Seven, Indianapolis and Rossie models, each available in a
double-bend option for face balance and an S-neck option for toe hang.
"It's a fairly tight line," said Luke Williams, Callaway's Senior Direc-
tor of Product and Brand Management, Putters. "The objective was to
deliver dramatic increases in moment of inertia. By going with a multi-
material construction, we were able to take weight out of the center
and move it to the perimeter like you would in a
driver or cavity-back iron."
The EXO line is built using stainless steel around
the perimeter and lightweight aluminum in the cen-
ter providing superior stability and forgiveness, as
well as giving the putters an MOI about 50 percent
higher than previous models from Odyssey.
"Off-center hits will roll a little straighter. But even
more significant, when you hit it off the heel or toe, you lose less ball
speed," Williams said. "Putts that you hit off the heel and might nor-
mally come up a little short will now roll out more like a center hit."
The EXO line features a new version of Odyssey's Microhinge in-
sert – which creates immediate forward roll for more consistent accu-
racy and distance control – and combined it with the familiar sound
and feel of Odyssey's White Hot technology.
"The feedback has been great," Williams said. "We're really excited
about the potential."
