"They're all really unique," said Brian
Bode, a Regional Vice President at
American Golf who has been with the
company for 27 years. "There is
incredible value at all these courses, and
they're all good golf courses."
Mountain Meadows has been named
Course of the Year by L.A. County
Department of Parks and Recreation the
last two years, Bode said, and American
Golf-managed courses have won the
award 10 consecutive years. The
company has made significant
improvements in the last few years to
Mountain Meadows, Lakewood and La
Mirada, improving the experience for
golfers at each of the courses.
"We've taken great pride in
maintaining excellent golf course
conditions over the years, and I think
that shows," Bode said. "The overall
conditions and the guest experience are
important to us, and that's why we
invest so heavily in our courses."
Seven of the nine American Golf-
managed courses within the L.A. County
golf division were designed by famed
architects William Park Bell and his son,
William Francis Bell. So golfers will see
similarities from course to course,
though each is unique to its region.
"To have architects of that magnitude
design these clubs says a lot," Bode said.
"They're all pretty special courses."
The best part about the diversity of
courses in L.A. County is that The
Players Club members can play many of
them at discounted rates.
"It's an incredible value for members
of The Players Club to be able to play
these courses all over the county for rates
that are very reasonable, and in many
cases below market value," Bode said.
"It has really made golf affordable for a
lot of people. For a very low fee, they
can play golf, practice, get instruction
and enjoy discounts on carts, drinks
and more."
