OB SPORTS GOLF & LEISURE x SPRING 2018 x obsports.com l IN THE NEWS BY joel Beers I t may not have received the head- lines of Major League Baseball's winter meetings, but the big hitters of OB Sports Golf Management assem- bled in Scottsdale, Arizona, for three days in January to exchange ideas, dis- cuss best practices and share success stories. The 2018 OB Sports General Man- agers' Conference, held January 15-17 at Hotel Valley Ho, was attended by more than 100 industry professionals from OB Sports properties, including general managers, head golf profes- sionals, directors of sales, and member- ship directors. There were also another 40 vendors representing different facets of the golf industry in attendance. "There are multiple purposes for the General Mangers' Conference, most importantly education," said David Bataller, Director of Communications and Public Relations for OB Sports. "We always strive to present the latest innovations, hot button issues and case studies to our management staff at each property. We also value network- ing with the best and brightest in the golf industry, both in professional and social settings." Bataller said that golfers will soon see some of the new initiatives that were discussed at the meeting, ranging from changes in food and beverage op- erations to course conditions. "For instance, an agronomy-focused open forum featuring four superintend- ents at successful OB Sports facilities discussed the latest trends, and break- out sessions for our respective public facilities and private clubs touched on relevant issues affecting each category," Bataller said.
