So loyalists will undoubtedly be chomping at the bit for the Dec. 9 nationwide release of the brand's 10th generation XXIO X clubs. Just like previous iterations, the line features drivers, fairways metals, hybrids and irons – as well as ladies' versions of each – and is designed to add pace and power for players with moderate swing speeds. But there are also plenty of new technological improvements with XXIO X, and that's what has golfers most excited. All the clubs in the line feature the brand's innovative True Focus Impact Technology, which combines a high- energy impact head, a smart impact shaft and a low swing MOI design that's also lightweight. "When you put all these factors together, you get a club that's easier to swing and will give you more distance while allowing you to hit the ball straighter and higher," said Zack Oakley, a product manager with XXIO, Cleveland Golf and Srixon. In the heads, the COR has been expanded to higher parts of the club face where golfers make impact most often. The smart impact shafts are designed with increased flex in the grip to decrease the imbalance that can lead to inconsistent shots. Those two factors help golfers strike the ball more frequently on the hottest part of the face. "You're going to get the same amount of distance with less effort," Oakley said. The XXIO X line will be available for purchase at select American Golf- managed courses in Southern California, including Los Coyotes, Mountaingate and SeaCliff country clubs, as well as Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course. Retail prices for the XXIO X line are $649.99 for the driver, $399.99 for fairway metals, $299.99 for hybrids and $200 per club for graphite-shaft irons ($160 per club for steel shafts).
