BEST COLLEGE pLAyEr (WOMEn) Tie: UCLA junior Lilia Vu (Fountain Valley) and Stanford sophomore An- drea Lee (Hermoso Beach), ranked No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, in the Women's WAGR. BEST AMATEUr Stewart Hagestad of Newport Beach, a former USC golfer who won the 2016 Mid-Amateur Championship. Also was low amateur at the 2017 Masters and a member of the victorious U.S. team in the 2017 Walker Cup at LA Country Club. Honorable mention: John Pate of Santa Barbara, Craig Steinberg of Agoura Hills, Tim Hogarth of North- ridge and John McClure of Los Ange- les. BEST SEnIOr AMATEUr (LIFETIME) Kemp Richardson of Laguna Niguel. The longtime El Niguel Country Club member won the U.S. Senior Amateur and British Senior Amateur in the same year (2001) and re- peated at the US Senior Amateur in 2003, becom- ing the 13th player in history to win that USGA event twice. Already enshrined in U.S. Amateur Golf Hall of Fame; his name also is on the Wall of Champions in the USGA Museum and Arnold Palmer Center for Golf History in Far Hills, N.J. Maybe someday USC will figure out he deserves to be in the USC Athletic Hall of Fame.
