Playoff event, the Dell Technologies,
then tied for 20th at the BMW.
His inspired rebound garnered a
Captain's Pick for the Presidents Cup,
where he went 3-0-1. He then kicked
off the 2017-18 season with a tie for
third at the Safeway at Silverado.
Clearly, he's far from finished. So
I'm asking the genie to get him his
coveted U.S. Open win.
Lefty has chalked up a record six
runner-up finishes, heartbreakingly so
on several occasions.
And this year's venue, Shinnecock
Hills, owes him one. He posted his
first U.S. Open top 10 there, a T4 in
1995, and then finished second in ago-
nizing fashion to Retief Goosen in
2004. Phil has just enough gas in the
tank to get it done.

TIGER PROWLS AGAIN
Those of you of a certain age well re-
member poor 'ol Charlie Brown, hop-
ing to kick the football from Lucy's
hold, when time after time after time
she would yank the ball away right be-
fore impact and Charlie Brown would
swing his leg, miss everything and
wind up flat on his back. Which begs
the question: How many times can
Tiger Woods tempt us into thinking
he's healthy, ready to play, ready to
contend – and then whump! – news of
another back surgery.
I want him back – just one more
time. It might be too much to ask for
one more duel with Phil, or one more
major, but let him play again, find the
leaderboard and taste a victory – how
about the Players Championship?
No one has ever hit shots and holed
putts quite like Tiger, and no golfer has
ever moved the media/casual fan/ex-
citement needle quite like Tiger.
Genie, I'm counting on you.
