N
ot everything stays
in Las Vegas. Mem-
bers of High
Meadow Ranch Golf Club
swept into Sin City for
the OB Sports Team
Championship Nov. 13-
14 at Angel Park Golf
Club, and brought home
the winning trophy for
the third time in the last
seven years.
High Meadow Ranch, lo-
cated in Magnolia, Tex.,
fielded two teams in the
event, but the squad of Matt
Luca, Roger Stebbins,
Knight Doggett, Rick Cook,
Dan Vaughn, Mark Wyatt,
Rob Whitaker, and Lynn
Widrick notched the victory.
The team shot a two-day
total of 407 to edge Sandia
Resort & Casino in Albu-
querque, N.M., by two shots
and Tijeras Creek Golf Club
in Rancho Santa Margarita,
Calif., by five.
High Meadow Ranch won
the event in 2009 and 2014,
but this was the first time a
team has won the tourna-
ment three times.
"Each victory is always
special," said Cody Spivey,
General Manager at High
Meadow Ranch. "This year
was an awesome venue and
to be the first team with
three victories helps build
our chemistry and cama-
raderie for years to come."
Spivey said the key to the
victory for High Meadow
Ranch was understanding
the gross team must play
well in order to have a
chance to win.
"Our gross team placed
first both days to set us up
for victory," he said. "An-
other factor was knowing
our members well enough to
be able to pair players to-
gether that not only like
each other but complement
each other's game."
The annual team champi-
onship is put on by OB
Sports, which manages golf
courses in 15 states through-
out the country.
Loyalty club members at
the company's publicly
managed courses qualify in
events at their home course
throughout the year for the
right to represent their club.
Participants in the 2016
event were treated to two
rounds of golf, a practice
round, a welcome reception,
accommodations at the
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino,
tee gifts, a $100 credit good
for apparel on the Travis-
Mathew Tour Bus, prizes
and an awards ceremony.

■ HIGH MEADOW RANCH WINS OB SPORTS TITLE
JOINING TOGETHER
FOR MOVEMBER
R
aising awareness of men's health
initiatives received a boost re-
cently as OB Sports partnered with
the Movember Foundation to help
promote the cause through golf.
Nearly a dozen OB Sports-man-
aged courses across the country par-
ticipated with various "MoGolf"
fundraisers, donating thousands of
dollars while increasing growth by
60 percent over last year.
Leading the effort was Tijeras
Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa
Margarita, Calif., which raised nearly
$4,000 with a helicopter ball drop.
"For us as a course, to be able to
contribute like that to a worthwhile
cause is very rewarding," said Mike
McChristie, Tijeras Creek's Director
of Sales & Group Events. "A lot of
good people stepped up to lend
their support."
