WENTE FAMILY ESTATES GRAPEVINE x FALL 2016 l NEW RELEASES LIVERMORE VALLEY WINES TO CELEBRATE THE ARRIVAL OF FALL h arvest season marks an exhilarating time at Wente vineyards. not only are grapes ready to be plucked from the vines for future winemaking endeavors, but several batches of wines are also now ready for release. this year's fall wine releases include the latest in the small lot Artists series wine and the notable 2015 Winemakers studio Grand Prix, to name just a couple. here's a look at what's available this season: 2014 THE NTH DEGREE SYRAH Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay Varietals: 90% syrah, 6% Petite sirah, 4% Grenache. Details: the nth Degree is an exclusive col- lection of limited-production wines handcrafted by fifth Generation Winemaker Karl Wente. the focus of this small lot program is to create wines that reflect the distinctive terroir of the Wente family estate vineyards. each wine must show style and finesse of stellar degree to be included in the nth Degree program. only the best of the best, regardless of vintage or variety, achieve this distinction. Tasting Notes: this syrah has rich aromas and flavors of black cherry, blueberry, chocolate, coffee and vanilla bean, with hints of ripe Bing cherry, rose pedals and crushed violets. firm yet soft tannins complement the ripe fruit character and toasted oak, yielding a beautifully layered, full-bodied wine with a long, lingering finish. 2014 SMALL LOT ARTIST SERIES DUETTO Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay Varietals: 60% cabernet sauvignon, 40% cabernet franc. Details: the Artist series is a wine club exclu- sive offering that consists of red blends hand- harvested from carefully selected blocks of Wente vineyards' estate grown and sustainably farmed vineyards. With every vintage, wine- makers work with local artists to get their ex- pression of "the art of blending." this year, artist nick Brown shares his inspiration as a sense of tranquility he experiences when gazing into the vast open skies above the vineyards of liver- more valley throughout the day. Tasting Notes: expressive aromas of cherries, berries, strawberry, toasted oak, dark chocolate and a hint of spice. A burst of blackberries and dark chocolate on the palate leads to supple and velvety tannins. this elegant and well-rounded wine provides a long, smooth finish. 4 fi
