y the end of this year, visitors to
worldwidegolfshops.com will
find quite a bit more than just a
massive catalog of golf products for
sale. Thanks to a nearly year-long effort
to enhance the site's blog, it will re-
launch as a hub of golf news and infor-
mation that goes well beyond its
previous content offerings.
The blog – appropriately named "The
Clubhouse" – will be featured promi-
nently on the site and will also be linked
to via e-newsletters and social media.
The goal behind the effort is to make the
website a central gathering place where
golfers can find all the content they de-
sire, whether it's about equipment,
game improvement, golf getaways or
the latest news from the pro tours.
"There's an opportunity for us to
have more connected relationships with
our customers," said David Lowe, E-
commerce Director for Worldwide Golf
Shops. "They come to us for our expert-
ise as well as the transaction.
"There are many blogs that exist on
their own, and there are many retail
sites that exist on their own. Our goal is
to offer one place – The Clubhouse –
that shares the entire picture and scope
of golf in one location. It's a no-brainer
for us to bring that information to our
customers online – similar to the experi-
ence they have with our team of ex-
perts in our stores."
The blog will be updated daily and
will focus on five categories: golf news;
product information, including up-
dates on the latest technology and in-
terviews with insiders at all the major
manufacturers; instruction from world-
renowned and local teaching pros; a
"Watts in the Bag?" section devoted to
insight on the equipment used by play-
ers on all the pro tours; and a lifestyle
portal that will feature insight on fash-
ion, travel and more.
Content will come from the World-
wide Golf Shop's staff as well as various
sources within the golf industry.
"We're trying to provide golf lifestyle
information for our customers, so it en-
hances what we provide on the product
side," Lowe said. "The Clubhouse is re-
ally meant to communicate the game
and the lifestyle of golf while engaging
our customers in a more meaningful
way so they can interact with us as
more than just a retailer."
