hen it comes to golf courses, there are sev-
eral different types to choose from: private,
semi-private, public, resort and military.
And then there's municipal.
Those city-owned golf courses that offer their resi-
dents a cherished community asset, a recreational tea-
sure, and a social gathering spot.
From San Diego to Ventura and from the coast to the
desert, there are more than 50 municipal golf courses
throughout the area that offer beauty, challenge and a
variety of different layouts.
And while golfers may not know the difference
whether they're playing on a municipal course or not,
we've compiled a look at some of the city gems to put
on your play list:
