For 40 years, Bob Vokey has been making wedges
that help golfers get their ball up and down
U
nmatched craftsmanship starts with an un-
matched craftsman. That sums up one of the
premier club makers of our time, Titleist's Bob
Vokey. The son of a Canadian tool and die
maker, Vokey started in 1976 with Bob's Custom Golf Shop
in North San Diego County. Forty years later the name
Vokey is synonymous with wedges. Learning from some
of the world's greatest players, Vokey watched and lis-
tened to what they wanted in a wedge's look, feel and per-
formance to create premium wedges that perform with
utmost accuracy under the most challenging course and
tournament conditions. With 40 percent of all sand, lob
and approach wedges in play each week on tour, Vokey-
designed wedges are certainly a favorite among tour play-
ers, as well as amateurs of all skills.
In the exclusive Q&A that follows, Vokey shares insights
into his craft, explains how to choose the proper wedges
for your bag, and the keys to being a great wedge player.
