Clubmakers and tour pros are taking golf to new heights
P
rogress. It's the cornerstone of any success story. Whether
it's the ascent of Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and most re-
cently Jason Day to the top of the world rankings, or the
astounding technological strides that today's club
manufacturers are making, success at that level is
contingent upon forward progress.
I was reminded of this recently while reading
over the results of our 2016 Hot Shots Club Test,
which you can view in this edition of the Insider.
A handful of our customers joined us on the driving
range at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Southern Cali-
fornia to test some of the latest equipment from our store
shelves. From ease of use to sublime forgiveness, the comments
we received were overwhelmingly enthusiastic – a far cry from
the time I took up the game four decades ago when playing it
safe off the tee meant trying to find the sweet spot with a 2-iron
that looked more like a butter knife than a golf club. It's one of
the reasons why pros are playing the game like never before and
amateurs are enjoying their time on the course more than ever.
From clubmakers to tour stars aiming to win the Green Jacket
at the Masters this month, I'll always be in awe of those not con-
tent to rest on their laurels.
