How long have you been teaching? I'll be
starting my fifth year of full-time teaching in Jan-
uary. For the last three-and-a-half years or so, I
partnered with [former PGA Tour player] Bob
May to run a golf academy here in Vegas. When
the course where we taught closed earlier this
year, it felt like a good opportunity to venture
out on my own, and I found my new post at The
Legacy Golf Club in October.
How are things going at Legacy so far? This
place is busy! The staff is great, and everyone has
been very helpful in welcoming me onto their
team and working with me. I'm excited to de-
velop and launch some new programs here in
January. We're working on developing a junior
golf program and clinics, more short-game clinics
for guests, and various promotions. I partnered
with PGA Professional and General Manager
Andy Deiro a few weeks ago to hold a free short-
game clinic for guests, and I'd love to continue to
do more of that kind of thing.
What do you enjoy about teaching? Just
being around the game. Because I played at the
top level, I have great stories that people love to

F
or Jeff Gallagher, you could say that golf is in his blood. His father, Jim, was a PGA
professional in Indiana, and many of Jeff's childhood memories involve playing
alongside his older brother, Jim Gallagher, Jr., – a five-time PGA Tour winner – and
older sister, Jackie Gallagher-Smith, who has an LPGA Tour victory on her resume.
Jeff, who turned 51 on Dec. 29, went on to play both the PGA Tour and the Web.com Tour,
where he won twice – once at the 1991 Ben Hogan Cleveland Open and again in 2000 at the
Buy.com South Carolina Classic. He calls Las Vegas home these days, and has found a calling
teaching the game he loves at The Legacy Golf Club. Here, he shares his teaching philosophy,
his motto on the course, and details about the best round he ever played.
