l TOUR REPORT OB SPORTS GOLF & LEISURE x FALL 2015 x obsports.com and that will make for outstanding TV. The art of the draw seems to be more choreographed at the Presidents Cup than it does at the Ryder Cup, so let's count on seeing the head-to-head tussle that every- one wants, Jordan Spieth vs. Jason Day. In 2015, Spieth and Day have been paired early and often, most notably dur- ing the final round of the PGA Champi- onship (Day) and the British Open (draw). Day was one group behind Spieth during the latter's U.S. Open triumph. Other possible duels to salivate over would be Bubba Watson versus Louis Oosthuizen (a rematch of their 2012 Mas- ters playoff), Zach Johnson versus Marc Leishman (a rematch of the 2015 British Open playoff), and Captain's Pick Phil Mickelson against anybody. 5 Jack's Track. For the second con- secutive Presidents Cup, play will be contested on a Jack Nick- laus-designed course. In 2013, venerable Muirfield Village played host. In 2015, the honor falls to unheralded Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea. This five-year- old layout is no stranger to big-time com- petitions, having twice played host to the Champions Tour, in 2010 and 2011. Much has changed since then, however. Nicklaus was then in his phase of craft- ing greens with wild interior contours and the putting surfaces proved unpopu- lar with the Senior set. They've since been softened considerably. Additionally, the club has added many trees and further enhanced the landscap- ing to give it a more mature appearance. At first glance, the course resembles some- thing out of a Rory McIlroy wristwatch commercial. Tall, new gleaming skyscrap- ers backdrop many of the holes. Situated near the West Sea, one hour from down- town Seoul and a 35-minute ride from the airport (I timed it), Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea will enjoy seaside breezes, no- tably at the 424-yard, par-4 second hole, which plays closest to the water. Elsewhere, players will find generous fairways, mid-sized greens, a plethora of resort-style bunkers, and most impor- tantly, a terrific run of risk-reward holes menaced by liquid peril. It's far from Jack's best work, but as a test of golf for a major match-play compe- tition such as the Presidents Cup, the lay- out will work just fine.
