O
ne of the most important
unwritten rules of golf eti-
quette is playing the game
in a timely fashion.
There are few things more frus-
trating than waiting on every tee
box and every fairway of every hole
to hit your next shot. And the worst
part? It is completely avoidable.
Here is a quick refresher course on
pace of play. Surely, many golfers
have heard it all before, but it's
worth reviewing again or learning
for the first time if you are new to
the game.
READY GOLF
Don't be consumed with who is
up first on the tee. If you are ready,
tee it and hit it. In the fairway, if you
reach your ball first and are ready to
play, don't be afraid to do so.
LOST AND FOUND
Yes, golf balls can be expensive.
However, a good rule of thumb is a
few minutes max when looking for a
wayward shot. Chances are if you
don't find it in the first minute you
are not going to find it at all.
READY, SET, PUTT
Be ready to putt when it's your
turn. Pick your line and putt. The
professionals on TV look at every
angle – you are not on TV.
Bottom line is be a considerate
golfer. We will all play faster for it.
