olfers love to hit the
long ball. After all,
few things are more
satisfying on the course than
watching a squarely struck
tee shot sail into the distance.
But the truth is that short-
game prowess is just as im-
perative, if not more so, than
any distance you can get off
the tee. What good is hitting
it a mile if you can't get up-
and-down or make a 6-foot
putt to save your par?
If this situation sounds a
little too familiar, then a pro-
gram developed by short-
game guru Dave Pelz may
be just what you need.
Pelz Golf is coming to
Chardonnay Golf Club this
fall to teach a series of one-
day clinics and three-day
workshops to help players
enhance their short game –
something that even the best
of the best can always im-
prove upon.
"One of my favorite things
about teaching through the
Pelz Golf program is that we
have a tried-and-true system
to help people develop a
game plan for their short
game and putting," said Ste-
fan Carlsmith, PGA Manag-
ing Senior Instructor at Dave
Pelz Golf. "Spending a whole
day, or even better yet three
days, with us allows us the
time to thoroughly explain
and teach the foundational
concepts of the short game."
The goal of the Pelz Golf
instructors is to teach that
foundation, supervise prac-
tice, give one-on-one feed-
back, and then let that inten-
sive education inspire you to
keep practicing the right way
for continued improvement
long after the clinic is over.
They do this by teaching
both on the course and off the
course with a very small
group of motivated golfers.
"Group instruction, in the
4-to-1 ratio for our three-day
schools and the 6-to-1 ratio
for our one-day clinics, is in-
valuable," said Carlsmith.
"Being able to receive person-
alized instruction and then
step back and observe others
while the information soaks
in creates a really wonderful
learning environment."
With an innovative ap-
proach that includes video,
feedback devices, and the lat-
est research, this is one sure-
fire way to help lower your
handicap for good.
