cently named the
No. 1 Destination
for a Ladies' Golf
Trip by Golf Channel

Matt Ginella.
Ginella revealed his
list of Top 5 Ladies Golf
Trips on the cable chan-
nel's Morning Drive
program, taking into
account what he said
are the five S's that
make up a great golf
trip: setting, sun, serv-
ice, shopping, and spa.
The Monarch Beach
resort, he said, features
all this – and more.
"It is a fantastic
spot," Ginella said.
"The golf course is
short [from the ladies
tees] and very playable.
It's right on the beach
and it's a beautiful set-
ting."
In addition to the St.
Regis Monarch Beach,
Ginella's list included
the Lodge at Pine Nee-
dles in North Carolina,
the American Club in
Kohler, Wisc., Silverado
Resort in Napa, Calif.,
and the stunning Sea
Island in Georgia.
But it was Monarch
Beach that was the
clear winner, with its
nearby beach club, its
gourmet dining options
and its setting right on
the edge of the ocean.
Hospitality also
played a big role.
"I think what women
golfers are looking for
is a resort that is wel-
coming them as a
group," Ginella said.
"There's a lot of wom-
ens trips that fre-
quent this area and
they all love it."
