Perhaps that's why she enjoys being a part of so many weddings. As the Wedding Sales Manager and Wed- ding Planner at Chardonnay Golf Club, Men- doza has helped plan and execute hundreds of weddings. It's the pure joy and excitement of this special day she remembers. In fact, it's the best part of her job. "Weddings are a celebration. Family and friends get together; some haven't seen each other for years," Mendoza says. "Every wed- ding is different but they all have the same theme: love." A certified interior designer, Mendoza grav- itated toward floral arranging early in her ca- reer. Clients started asking for help with their weddings and before long, she became a spe- cial events consultant. Four years ago, having worked with Chardonnay as a vendor for sev- eral years prior, she joined the staff. Mendoza is calm and confident as she guides the bride and groom through the plan- ning process. She's there to remind them of what's important — to enjoy their day. As she reflects on her career, Mendoza shares why her job never gets old. What's the best part of your job? Watching the bride walk down the aisle and seeing the groom's face. What's the most challenging for brides? Getting guests to RSVP on time. How do you deal with that? I know how to talk to the brides, how to reassure them and present options if there is an obstacle. Best advice you can give a bride and groom? Enjoy your day. Be in the moment. Don't worry about the décor or the guests. You won't remember the details. Biggest wedding waste? Wedding programs. Hardly any guests read them. Also, order less cake. A lot of cake gets thrown away most of the time. What is your favorite wedding memory? Seeing the ill father of a bride show up to the ceremony. No one was expecting him to make it to the wedding so it was a surprise. It was an emotional moment to see him walk his daughter down the aisle and also for the bride to be able to have the father-daughter dance. It was beautiful. NOY MENDOZA Helping couples enjoy their big day is the best part of her job
